2020 wrap up

What a year! GALS supported 88 births, 50 families through our first ever Baby Shower, and 12 families through Prenatal education and group support. We couldn’t have done it without the dedication of our leadership- Raichal, Dominique, Ri, and April- or Birthworkers who gave over 1,250 hours of their time to support Central Texas families.

2021 is already gearing up to be a big year. Here are some of our goals:

• Move the GALS orientation and training to an online platform- easing access to training and support for Birthworkers

• Add education modules for families (and their support networks )to get easily accessible and culturally congruent classes and information

• Pilot a postpartum Doula Program to support 10 GALS families.

• Increase access to services for birthing people on Medicaid.

• Streamlined GALS data collection through a new data platform. Additionally, we will be aligning data collection and referral systems with the Maternal Health Equity Collaborative.
