Job Title: Perinatal Childcare Program Care Coordinator
Reports To: Perinatal Childcare Program Director
Location: Hybrid, in-person work in Austin, Texas and surrounding areas
Hours: Part-Time (20 hours/week, up to 32 hours depending on program needs and experience)

GALS is a community-based organization dedicated to supporting families through the perinatal period. We provide culturally sensitive, accessible childcare to help parents access essential health and wellness services with peace of mind, centering Black Families. Our childcare services are designed to reduce barriers for families in need, supporting their journey from pregnancy through postpartum by providing safe, nurturing environments for their children.
Position Summary
The Perinatal Childcare Care Coordinator will play a key role in supporting the organization’s childcare program by coordinating care schedules, managing client intake, and ensuring smooth communication between families and childcare providers. This part-time role is ideal for someone who is detail-oriented, empathetic, and has a passion for supporting families. The Care Coordinator will work closely with the Childcare Program Director to maintain high standards of care and ensure families feel confident and supported.

Donation intake and logistics
Receive, sort and organize in-kind donations, rejecting unusable donations
Coordinate donation logistics including donor drop-offs, pick ups and scheduling via email and using Calendly
Provide a welcoming, values-aligned experience for donors to facilitate smooth intake processes
Inventory management
Maintain accurate inventory records using GALS-approved systems
Monitor stock levels, flagging gaps, shortages, and overstock items
Maintain clean, safe and organized space.
Ability to move, lift and handle items at least 50lbs
Host regular volunteer to support donations sorting and organization, organized in collaboration with GALS staff and MHEC
Provide guidance and oversight to volunteers during donation-related activities
Distribution
Prepare and fulfill donation distributions for families, care workers, and programs, ensuring family dignity in receiving what they need
Coordinate with program staff and MHEC to align inventory, and distribution with family needs
Support distribution process for community events, coordinating with GALS and MHEC
Confidentiality and Values Alignment
Uphold strict confidentiality related to family information and donor records
Engage in work in alignment with GALS’ commitment to reproductive justice and community care

Qualifications
Experience: 2+ years of professional experience in client support, care coordination, or childcare management, preferably in a nonprofit or family services setting
Skills:
Must have strong organizational and multitasking skills with attention to detail
Must have excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with ability to be direct as needed and with a compassionate approach to working with families
Experience with perinatal, maternal, or child health or education services
Proficiency in Microsoft Office, Google Workspace, and client database management systems
Ability to work independently, prioritize tasks, and adapt to changing needs
Preferred:
Experience teaching or facilitating out of school programming, camps or drop-in care
Bilingual (clients commonly speak English, Spanish, French)
Familiarity with trauma-informed and culturally sensitive care practice
Higher education in social work, early childhood education, or a related field, and/or lived experience supporting families in early childhood

GALS is seeking a detail-oriented, community centered Donations Distribution Coordinator to support our growing in-kind donations program. This Coordinator will work closely with the community partners in Maternal Health Equity Collaborative and Partners in Parenting. This role ensures that essential baby items, postpartum supplies and family goods are received, organized, and distributed efficiently to families and care workers.
This position plays a critical role in connecting community generosity to families with real-time needs, helping ensure equitable and dignified access to resources.

1. Client Intake & Scheduling
Conduct client intakes to assess childcare needs and answer questions about program services
Schedule childcare services based on family needs and program availability, coordinating with the childcare staff and families for seamless service delivery
Track and manage care schedules, maintaining accurate and confidential records of child attendance, family preferences, and childcare hours
2. Family Communication & Support
Serve as a primary contact for families using childcare services, providing updates, answering questions, and addressing concerns in a supportive, compassionate manner
Maintain regular communication with families, gathering feedback and sharing updates to ensure client satisfaction and program improvement
Support families in accessing additional services as needed, such as social services or community resources
3. Coordination with Childcare Staff
Work with the childcare team to ensure family preferences and any special care instructions are followed, promoting a safe and positive environment for children
Assist with preparing and organizing materials needed for each childcare session, such as toys, snacks, and educational supplies
Support the Director of Perinatal Childcare in coordinating childcare staff schedules to ensure adequate coverage for each session
4. Data Management & Reporting
Maintain accurate records of childcare services provided, including attendance, incidents, and feedback from families
Collaborate with the Childcare Program Director and the Data and Evaluations Director to track program metrics and contribute to reporting on service impact and areas for improvement
Assist in collecting and analyzing family feedback to ensure program quality and responsiveness to family needs
5. Community Outreach & Engagement
Participate in outreach events and support the Childcare Program Director with program promotion to increase community awareness and service enrollment
Build and maintain relationships with local organizations to help connect families to additional resources and services

GALS Birthworker
Giving Austin Labor Support (GALS) is dedicated to providing emotional, physical, and informational support to birthing people and healthcare professionals who are under-supported in order to improve birth outcomes and strengthen families.
Dedicated to advancing reproductive justice in Central Texas and beyond, we are improving birth outcomes and ensuring no one births alone. GALS provides low-income and BIPOC families with wrap-around perinatal support through the following programs: On-Call Birth Support for those actively in labor through postpartum, a Full Spectrum Doula Program, a Postpartum Doula Support Program, Jail Support Program for those pregnant/postpartum at the Travis County Correctional Complex, and a collaborative Maternal Health Equity Collaborative program called Childcare for Black Mamas that offers free perinatal childcare to support health and mental health care visits and respite care for Black families. Since 2009, over 800 families have received support from our programs in Central Texas. GALS has supported families as far north as Temple/Killeen and as far south as San Marcos, TX.
We are looking for folks who are:
Passionate about birthwork
Always willing to learn
Have availability to commit to birthwork (prenatally, posptartum, or on-call)
Awareness of social and reproductive justice
Ability/willingness to navigate social service referrals with families
Priority will be given to birthworkers/doulas who
Priority will be given to birthworkers/doulas who are:
Trained or working as a postpartum doula
Trained by a doula organization, or working as a birth doula
Bilingual in Spanish, French, and/or Portuguese
BIPOC or LGBTQIA+
Trained in Trauma-Informed care, maternal mental health and Reproductive Justice
Have past doula clients who are able to provide a testimonial
Previously received services from GALS
Contracted Birthworkers will be offered further training and mentorship by GALS staff and partners.

Supervised by GALS, Giving Austin Labor Support, the primary purpose of the GALS Birthworker is to meet the needs of under-resourced birthing people in Central Texas during the perinatal period. This will include but is not limited to traveling to residential areas and birthing locations to provide professional doula support during pregnancy, birth, and postpartum.
GALS is dedicated to antiracism, reproductive justice work, and is devoted to ending maternal mortality in Central Texas.
We are seeking culturally competent, compassionate Birthworkers to join our team. For some positions, no prior experience is necessary- but a willingness to learn, a flexible schedule, and the emotional and physical stamina to attend long labors is needed. We provide on-site training and continuing education for GALS Birthworkers, in return for a minimum commitment of 12 months of active participation in the On-Call, Prenatal, Jail or Postpartum programs.
This opportunity requires a minimum commitment of being on-call twice a month and potentially very long hours at births.
The average time our Birthworkers stay at a birth is 9-14 hours, but it may be quite a bit shorter or considerably longer. Prenatal and Postpartum support is also provided and can vary from 1-5 hours at a time.

Provide education, emotional, and physical support to pregnant, birthing, and postpartum people
Honor the wishes and plans of the birthing person, not imposing your own beliefs about birth upon them
Provide support to the whole family
Be available for on-call labor support for two 24-hour periods per month (you designate the day, and start and end times)
Record visit notes within 24-72 hours following any meeting with a family
Uphold the values of GALS with families and amongst the GALS community of birthworkers

GALS Childcare Specialist
GALS collaborates with The Maternal Health Equity Collaborative, (MHEC) to provide culturally-sensitive and comprehensive perinatal childcare services to compliment the wraparound community doula support of the collaborative organizations, and ensure that BIPOC birthing folks and their families are able to access the holistic, whole-person care needed to alleviate perinatal health complications and reduce inequities.
The MHEC centers Black Women and Women of Color-both in leading the collaborative, and in the work we do in and with the community. The MHEC is made up of four doula organizations, Black Mamas ATX, Giving Austin Labor Support, Healing Hands Community Doula Project, and Mama Sana Vibrant Woman, and two parental support organizations, Hand to Hold and Partners in Parenting.

Supervised by GALS, Giving Austin Labor Support, the primary purpose of the Childcare Specialist is to meet the lack of childcare needs for Black birthing people in Central Texas during the perinatal period. This will include but is not limited to traveling to residential areas to provide professional supervision and care for children whose parent is attending doctor visits, experiencing birth/postpartum, hospital readmission, and during periods of health concern such as prescribed bed rest or Perinatal mental health diagnosis.
Both GALS and the collaborative are dedicated to antiracism, reproductive justice work, and is devoted to ending maternal mortality in Central Texas.
We are seeking a culturally competent, compassionate Childcare Specialist. The ideal candidate will be required to supervise children’s daily activities, prepare stimulating activities, and ensure healthy meals and snacks are available. You may also be required to provide support to a hurt or injured child.
