Education, Birth & Advocacy

Health and Happiness.. or something

We find ourselves oscillating between productivity and creativity wins, and curling up in a ball of mush and calling it a day. Wherever you are on that spectrum, we wish you health, we hope you've been able to connect to community, and we hope that some nectar of positivity and joy have fallen on you in these difficult times.

Life has changed for all of us, but many in our community are faced with unprecedented loss and hardship. GALS is continuing the fight for health equity and positive birth outcomes. We continue to offer in person birth support for all in need. We are shifting funding and applying to additional grants to address immediate needs of families and doulas who are suffering economically. We are building coalitions with others in this field to grow the community impact of the work.

We are attaching our advocacy packet we created back in March when hospitals first were reacting to the news of COVID-19. Central Texas Doula Association and Black Mamas ATX contributed greatly, and in part because of this team effort, St. David's Hospitals are allowing Doulas to support families as members of the health team.

Prenatal Vitamins

Thanks to numerous donations, we are supplying high quality, 60-day supplies of prenatal vitamins to twelve pregnant and postpartum incarcerated people at the Travis County Correctional Complex.

GALS offers prenatal groups

GALS is now offering weekly groups for prospective and current GALS families.
This is a space to ask questions and learn more about pregnancy, birth and postpartum, and be connected to resources in the Central Texas Community.
