Happy November! I have some great news to share with y'all- GALS was provided a crucial COVID-19 relief grant from St. David's Foundation!
Since March, GALS has seen more and more requests for support through our Prenatal Doula Program, and our doulas have been working hard to meet increased needs while caring for their own families. We so appreciate the donations we have received allowing us to continue crucial programming during this time.
The investment from the St. David's Foundation will be used to increase staff capacity- allowing us to increase maternal health services available for under-resourced families in Central Texas. Our volunteers will soon be transitioned into contracted Birthworkers! We are excited to begin compensating them for the meaningful time they spend with our GALS families- an average of 10 hours of labor support and an additional 5 hours of pre- and post- birth support.
